My best friend had been planning a big move for over a month.
She accepted an incredible job promotion, which took her from living down south to living way up north. She was excited for the change and she even looked forward to the different seasons that she’d get to experience. Living down south means that we only get to experience summer and spring and if we’re lucky, a two week cool streak that counts as winter. I tried to warn her that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but she assured me that she was going to prefer living up north and love the cooler temperatures. I think this would have been true if she wouldn’t have moved so far north. I don’t think she was aware of just how cold it could get in her new hometown. When I went to visit her, her new house was freezing. I asked her why it was so cold inside, and she told me that she couldn’t figure out how to get her home any warmer. She was running the furnace as high as she could, but her home wasn’t getting any warmer. I told her that she couldn’t keep living like this and that she needed to call an HVAC professional right away. She didn’t want to call an HVAC professional because she thought it was too expensive, but I told her that she’d freeze if she couldn’t figure out how to work her furnace properly. Thankfully, she took my advice!
